The Dark Tower series - Stephen King
Its an 8 book series, not exactly a travel book but an inspiring story about an epic adventure. Partly responsible for sparking the wanderlust in me I can't recommend these books enough. If your looking to start a fiction series, this is it.
he Idle Traveller: The Art of Slow Travel by Dan Kieran !
I finished this book last night and immediately started to read it over again. The author does a brilliant job of explaining how changing your mindset about travel effects your experience- I really can't recommend it enough!
Never mind the bullocks by Vanessa Able: about a girl who drove the circumference of India in the world's cheapest car
Emergency Sex and Other Desperate Measures: by Kenneth Cain, Heidi Postlewait, and Andrew Thomson.
The title is misleading. It's not as shallow as it sounds. It tracks the travels of three UN Peacekeepers after they met in the early 1990s working on the UN-organized first democratic elections in Cambodia. They write about their experience there and then in Somalia, Haiti, and Bosnia as UN Peacekeepers. These three friends take turns writing about life, love, and death in the world's most dangerous places. It's absolutely riveting.
